The Start of Something Good

Yes, I used an exclamation point, because I am excited. Why am I excited? Because I am starting this blog!

You must understand a few things first, I suppose. This is not my first blogging attempt. I have a little blog I post for my family, and I started another blog several months back that fizzled out pretty quick. But this…this blog is something different. This blog is something I feel good about. Something with my name on it, which, for me, is a pretty scary thing. This blog represents a change in myself, an opening up of the introverted nerd-hermit that I am. This blog is special to me. And thus, excitement.

So what can you expect from this blog? Definitely words. Hopefully lots of them. I am currently working on an edit of my 2014 NaNoWriMo novel, so expect to hear a little bit about that process. I’m also a big ol’ nerd of many varieties and fandoms, so if you’re into that, good! Video games and reading are my biggest hobbies, and I am always up for discussions of those sort. Finally, I have a husband, daughter, dog, and three plants that occasionally frequent my writer-ly thoughts.

And that’s about it. There’s much more I could say about my life, so stick around awhile with me, eh? I’ll promise I’ll get to the good stuff soon.

  1. Welcome to the blogging community! I’m going to really enjoy this blog I feel 😛

Also, because this is your first post, I thought I may as well give you some tips that’ll help get this blog off the ground. Firstly, create a schedule, and stick to it! For instance, this could be every Friday at 2PM, or every Sunday at 4:05AM. Make a schedule that fits you, as after all, it is YOUR blog! This’ll allow you to get into a routine, and will allow your readers to know what to expect, and when to expect it.

Secondly, make sure to engage with us, your fellow blogging community. Seek out blogs with interests that parallel yours, and comment on posts which make you want to share your opinions. Who knows, perhaps the author will reciprocate, and ultimately start following you! On bigger blogs, the author may even feature your blog on a post, sending their followers your way, netting you quite a number of new followers, which will both increase your motivation as well as incentive to write, allowing you to keep to your schedule.

    Anyway, hope these helped!

    1. Thank you for the tips! I have had blogs in the past that I tried to schedule in advance, and I would inevitably fail and then feel so miserable about it that I eventually gave them up…So I tried to keep this one a little more casual to alleviate some of that crushing responsibility, lol. However, I do think that it is a good goal to have and I’ve started to plan out having weekly “features” on the blog alongside my whatever-ramblings. Eventually I hope to get to the point where I can organize my ramblings into a schedule, but for now, I’m just happy that I’m writing at all 🙂

I also love other blogs! I try and spend a few minutes every day catching up on my reader and searching up some topics that I feel like reading for the day. This community is super friendly and I love it so far! Again, thanks for the tips, they are greatly appreciated, and thanks for stopping by!
